‘They’ve given us no choice but to be married forever,’ says a Rhode Island woman. Her state doesn’t recognize gay marriage, and the state where she was wed limits divorces to residents.
I always thought marriage was about being together forever.

McDonalds, Responsible for Gay Rights, Others not so Much
McDonald’s touts their commitment to social responsibility.
McDonald’s has signed on to a nationwide effort to promote “gay” and “lesbian” business ventures.
According to McDonald’s CEO Jim Skinner, McDonald’s will aggressively promote the homosexual agenda. In remarks on McDonald’s Web site concerning the company becoming a member of the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), Skinner wrote: “Being a socially responsible organization is a fundamental part of who we are. We have an obligation to use our size and resources to make a difference in the world … and we do.”
And yet they can’t be “socially responsible” enough to accomodate someone who is hearing impaired.
Hearing Impaired Woman Sues McDonald’s Over Drive-Thru Refusal
OMAHA, Neb. — A hearing-impaired woman filed a federal lawsuit against a local McDonald’s, saying workers refused to let her order food at the drive-thru window.
Karen Tumeh of Lincoln says they insisted she either order at the electronic speaker along the drive-thru lane or come inside to order.
Tumeh wears a hearing aid but still cannot hear while using the drive-thru ordering box at fast-food restaurants, according to the lawsuit.
At least three times since September 2007 workers at a Lincoln McDonald’s refused to let her place her order at the drive-thru window, Tumeh said.
In denying her service, McDonald’s violated the federal Americans With Disabilities Act, she said. Tumeh’s lawsuit seeks to force McDonald’s to make accommodations for hearing-impaired people to order food in restaurant drive-thrus.
 Here’s an idea for community involvement McDonalds, how about giving a damn about regular Americans first before expanding your “corporate responsibility?

For Susan Atkins Life Means Life
For anyone old enough to remember the Mansion murders then the name of Susan Atkins should be familiar.
Known also as Sadie Mae Glutz she was convicted along with Manson, Krenwinkel and Van Houten and originally sentenced to death. But that was commuted to life in prison when the death penalty was overturned in California in 1972.
Recently a compassionate release was requested due to Atkins having a terminal illness and was denied today.

CORONA, California — The state parole board on Tuesday denied a request for compassionate release to Charles Manson follower Susan Atkins, who stabbed actress Sharon Tate to death nearly 40 years ago and is dying of brain cancer.
The California Board of Parole released its unanimous decision hours after a 90-minute hearing, during which it heard impassioned pleas from both sides.
Kind of surprising for California in my opinion.
She has managed to avoid the full consequences of her actions for 36 years and has the opportunity to do what she denied her victims, which is to die a natural death.
A lot of the Manson family killers are starting to get to the age where years and infirmity will be taking their long over due lives. Closing another chapter on the last century.

Grassroots Opposition to illegal immigrants

Proposed Law to Keep Illegal Immigrants Out of Nebraska Town Causes Uproar
A proposed law aimed at booting illegal immigrants from Fremont, Neb., is causing an uproar among residents and inciting cries of racism.
The law, which applies to illegal immigrants who were born in the United States and those who came to the country later, would require everyone who rents property in Fremont to hold an occupancy license, the Omaha World-Herald reported.
The application for the license asks people to verify their legal right to live in the United States and must be rubber-stamped by local police, according to the paper.
“I’ll fight to the dying end to do what they want,” longtime Councilman Bob Warner said of constituents who advocate the legislation. “I don’t know why everybody is making a mountain out of something that is very simple.”
I don’t think a lot of people realize the significance of these ordinances and laws. What’s happening is that people are running for local offices on a platform of halting illegal immigration into their communities, and people are voting them in.
That’s huge when you think about it. No one expects reform at the federal level so they are asserting the states right to determine how best to address the problem.
Of course the opposition is not going to lay down without a fight, but with hundreds then thousands of communities passing ordinances and regulations their resources start to stretch thin.
We can overwhelm the opposition and trigger real reform.
